This is the result of the first attempt at utilizing a building destruction pipeline in Houdini back in 2021. Apart from a few texture changes and different parameter settings, the result is quite similar to what the teacher presented at the end of the tutorial.
However, there are a few things I learned, including:
- Procedurally creating a building, with adjustable amounts of floors and rows
- Fracturing the different elements of the building using proxies
- Adding constraints coherent with the different types of materials
- Using metaballs as a force and controller to control the destruction
- Using TOP's to create different variations of the simulation and picking the best one
- Rendering the result in Mantra with materials - Rendering the result in Karma
